From Catholics to Buddhists to Quakers

Like most Italians, most Milanese are Roman Catholics. However, many other religious communities are present in Milan.

Ambrosian rite
Milan is one of the few Roman Catholic dioceses that do not follow the Roman rite. Milan has its own Ambrosian rite, based on the teachings of the city's patron Saint Ambrosius.

Liturgy
The Milanese Ambrosian rite has a slightly different religious calendar (for example for the start of Fasting and Advent) and a different liturgical order during religious services.

Other religious communities
Many other religious communities are present in Milan, like Anglican and Baptist churches, protestant churches, Greek, Russian and Romanian orthodox churches, Islamic centers, Buddhist centers, Jehovah's witnesses and Quakers.
