Italy to be Europe's biggest wine producer

According to the forcasts of the Italian farmers' association Coldiretti Italy will overtake France as the number one wine producing country of Europe.

The export of Italian wine has increased by 7% in Europe and 8% in the United States. Italians themselves also bought more Italian quality wine.

Coldiretti also predicts a good quality harvest for 2008. 60% of grapes is destined for the production of wines with quality labels DOCG, DOC and IGT.

Two thirds of Italian quality wines are produced in Veneto, Puglia, Emilia Romagna and Sicily.
